About Us
Karen is a native of Utah and a descendent of Mormon Pioneers. She fell in love with the pioneer history and lifestyle when her elementary school took her on a field trip to visit a pioneer village. For many years she believed that she was born in the wrong century but has since come to believe that everyone experiences mortality when they are supposed to. Besides she really likes her microwave and a hot shower. Re-enactment does give one a chance to connect with their ancestors in a way that is different than doing family history and geneological research.
Earl is a pioneer in his own right. He first came into contact with pioneer re-enactment when he heard about a wagon train in 1997. He went to find this wagon train and subsequently walked the rest of the way with the handcart company ending in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 22, 1997. Earl decided to stay in Utah and see what life had to offer him.
Earl and Karen officially met December 2, 1997 in a small cabin at Old Deseret Village at This Is The Place Heritage Park where they were volunteering. They dated, married and have a little girl named Mary Kathryn who is 7 years old. The rest, as they say, is history.
